When this album came out in March, I knew it was going to be one of my favourite albums of the year. Actors have the retro precision of classic post punk, but also have a modern post punk sound. It's a modern sound, but not a brutal sound. That isn't to say it's not driving and difficult in places (it is), but it's more melodic, more instrumental and more electronic laced than a lot of modern post punk and noise rock. "Hit to the Head" and "Bury Me" are more the driving style, pummelling, insistent and draining. "Face Meets Glass" is brooding, electronic and dark. This is their debut album, so they brought their best to the table. Their second album will be the test. This is an amazing album that deserves multiple, active listenings.
